Flames SensorsLets take a look at how a flame sensor works and why we need one on our heating equipment. A flame sensor is also known as a flame rectifier. Without getting too technical what that means is that it only takes part of an electrical signal or divides it if you will. When there is a flame burning there is actually a small amount of electric being passed through the flame sensor's wire, through the flame sensor rod, through the flame and finally goes to the burner or (ground). If this path is not compllete at a predetimed amount of ampreage (flow) then the control or "brain box" tells the flame (gas valve) to shut down. All this is done in fractions of a second so there is minimal chance of raw gas building up in the furnace or boiler. It will shut down the gas valve in the event that the flame is lost or not ignited at the start of the ignition cycle. Alll this is done in milliamps which is 1/10,000 th's of an amp. o put that in perspective... An incandsent light bulb uses about 1/10 of an amp. The smallest crack in a flame sensor can cause problems that can drive an expert hvac mechanic insane. It is critical that your flame sensor is in perfect condition in order for your heatng appliance to run properly. We stock hundreds of flam sensors for all furnae and boilr makes and models. Testimonials...
My furnace went out and I tried to find a gas valve for a furnace that should have been replaced years ago. I didn't think that I would find the part, much less on a Sunday and then I came across USA Supply. These people know their business. I discribed what I needed to a gentleman who explained to me in easy to understand directions where and what to look for on the heater. They had a replacement part that I picked up at thier Chicago store. It was priced right and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs heating parts.
